Summer Update

It's been a busy summer of moving irrigation pipe, getting calves, traveling, and all else that comes with kids. We enjoyed lots of BBQ with our home grown beef. Joe is quite the grilling guy. He made more delectible meals that I did by far. It's so great having a husband at home for summer. Grace and Josiah did lots of time at the city pool. They helped us in the field. Grace mostly sat and cried about the tall weeds. Josiah on the other hand learned how to hook pipes together and carry them across the field. He is getting to be a more and more amazing help around the property. Both kids developed an obsessive habit of searching out puncture vine weeds. Josiah stopped playing when he went outside after about the first month of summer. If I looked out the window, he'd be hunting for weeds to pull. Grace would be close on his tail. They made their daddy proud (who had an even more obsessive hunt going all summer for the obnoxious weed).
Our dog almost died. He is now worth even more. Not because of almost dying, but because of the money we put into her to keep her alive. But she seems to be more bonded to the family. Either that or she's just spoiled a lot more. :)
Josiah is just starting up soccer. So far he loves it. He's only had one practice, but he was so excited he wore his shin guards and soccer socks most of the day before the practice. He is the tallest by far and the youngest on the team. He has another year before kindergarten, but we snuck him onto the kindergarten team because friends of ours are coaching.
It's been a great summer. Joe is now back to work and I am anxiously awaiting the next 5 weeks to pass so I don't have limbs jabbing me in the ribs and bladder. I am looking forward to meeting the newest daughter. The kids seem more and more excited all the time too. Especially Josiah. He told me this morning when he climbed in bed by us that, "the baby is in the way because she's growing and growing!" Grace is still convinced that my inside-out belly button is somehow "the baby." The joys of kids! I'm enjoying the last bit of time with two. They are a joy to take care of...most of the time. :D
